Session 3
Hypothesis Generation
The Hypothesis Generation Workshop will review the scientific literature on hypothesis generation and testing, including how information-processing limitations constrain both the process of hypothesis generation and how impoverished hypothesis generation can bias hypothesis testing. Attendees will participate in a small-group exercise generating empirical hypotheses for a pre-chosen target topic. The learning objective of the exercise is for attendees to gain practice in generating scientific hypotheses and familiarity with the challenges of generating hypotheses and possible mitigation strategies.
